The single most important choice I made during this process was my choosing my surgeon. I wanted to make sure my surgeon would be one that I would feel comfortable calling with questions and someone that I could open up to regarding my weight loss struggles. I had read so many posts on Facebook where people had their procedure and afterwards couldn’t get in touch with their surgeon. One post that I read last night stated a patient was having sharp, abdominal pain and her surgeon’s office in Georgia, did not have an on-call service. She was receiving medical advice from other members of the Facebook group. I chose my surgeon, Dr. Amanda Pysher, after I heard her speak at the in-service about how important post-op visits are and how you should be following up annually at her office for lab work and nutrition status. I realized this was someone who truly cared about outcomes and the long-term success of her patients.
